Dear Future Illini,

The University of Illinois Alumni Association and the Quad Cities Illini Club are pleased to announce we will be awarding $500 scholarships to three students from the Quad City area. The 2009 scholarship competition is open to any graduating senior or community college student who will be attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Fall of 2009. One scholarship will be a general scholarship open to any incoming freshman from the Quad Cities area. A second scholarship will be awarded to a student planning to pursue a degree in a health related field of study. A third scholarship will be awarded to a student planning to pursue a music degree. All applicants will be evaluated on the basis of need, community service, academic success, an essay and other criteria.

The COMPLETED application package should include:

1. Completed application form (must follow format on application and should not exceed 5 pages); Additional application forms can be found at www.qcillini.com

2. One copy of high school transcript (may be sent directly from high school; 7^th semester grades are acceptable--no need to wait for 8th semester);

3. Typed essay

The Scholarship Committee will not accept any applications postmarked after April 15, 2009.
The award will be announced by May 1, 2009.

-Checks need to be made payable to UIF (University of Illinois Foundation) in order to receive the tax deduction. Scholarship donation checks need to be separate from checks written for dues to be eligible for tax deduction. In order to process checks appropriately please write QCIC scholarship on the memo line.

The Quad Cities Illini Club has awarded two (2) $1,000 scholarships to local seniors attending the University of Illinois for 2008-2009. The two winners are Natalie Sheahan and Rachel Atwell. Ms. Sheahan, a graduate of Cambridge High School, is planning on being a Dentist and will study Bio-Chemistry at Illinois. Rachel Atwell graduated from Geneseo High School this spring and is planning on studying Natural Resources and Environmental Science. The Quad Cities Illini Club has been organized for just over a year and half and is a collection of alumni, fans, family and friends who share a common appreciation for the University of Illinois Fighting Illini.
